So on the front page it says we "refuse to grief other players." Are we still standing by that? Because I'm pretty sure we've all done it in some multiplayer game at one time or another...

Still standing by it as far as I am concerned.

Depends on what you call griefing I suppose.
I think in games where a big part of it is causing grief in one way or another it can be pretty hard to see any sort of line between just playing the game and deliberately ruining the game for someone.

I certainly dont grief. But as it is said, it depends on what you consider griefing. I am not even sure why this has reared its head in the first place.

Not sure it even needs to be all that well defined tbh.
For the most part simply stating "Don't be a Asshat!"
Should cover everything.
How far you should take something in battle is on your own conscience.
Though having the non-griefing statement on the front page still sends a nice message,
to deter those who purposely exploit and/or hack games, just to ruin the enjoyment of others.
ie. Asshats...

[WoW] This type of games should be up dated as soon as possible. Because there are many people that ere very found of such games. As these are very help full for make the brain power full and strong. So, mentaly strongness is the need of this presant era.

PvP does not require griefing.
I love to PvP and have done so in several MMO's and have never griefed anyone.
You don't have to be rude/insulting, you don't have to repeatedly kill same person, you don't have to kill people while they are loading, you don't have to go looking for characters 50 levels below you so you can feel good about your uber PvP skills. You don't have to hang around waiting to kill some poor guy out levelling his toon.
You can participate in PvP and behave within the realms of acceptable role play, and still be respectful towards your opponent out of character.
Clearly sometimes in the heat of battle mistakes can be made, but you can always apologize and offer to make restitutiion.
Griefing is a choice you make in how you play the game.

While I still prefer Pad's simplicity, I suppose some people might consider anyone who participates in PvP as griefers. I like the way Zeph put it as well.
The nature of PvP doesn't necessitate poor behaviour. Conflict can still be held as honorable, and certainly encouraged by many game mechanics. The fact that many PvP'rs are frequently seen sporting bad behaviour doesn't mean that it's the nature of PvP. That's the player's own personal choice, and their own failing.
I'm not a carebear, but I strive not seek the often-glorified false pleasure from destroying someone else's ability to enjoy a game. Just because he's an ass doesn't mean I have to be too. I am far from perfect though - along with everyone else.

I think Pad, Zeph & Strac have pretty much summed up my thoughts.
At one point in Neocron we quite often had op wars against a clan in an enemy faction for role play & fun. No hate, griefing or any of that, all friends and we'd always message each other afterwards to thank each other for the fight, whoever won & owned said outpost from it. Quite different to some of the other wars (whilst fun as well) we had in that game i'll admit lol, but was perfect pvp to me. (Cerb & Co. of The Underworld if any NC peeps remember!).
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
