So I'm a bit addicted to this game.. worth checking out if anyone is looking for a decent 4X TBS game.
Also Endless Legend is pretty much the same game but set in a Fantasy world instead.. not dipped in to that one yet as I'm waiting to win my first game of ES first...
Endless Space..

Have you played Sins of a Solar Empire, by any chance? It's a similar game that gets hyped by some people I know and I was wondering if you had any reference point for comparison. Back in the day I know folks here got excited for Gal Civ 2. Not sure if anyone is considering picking up 3 at some point.
I figure I'd like to try one of these games, but it seems there's a glut in the genre and I can't bring myself to narrow down the choices.

Yeah I actually have both games and have put quite a bit of time in to Sins of the Solar Empire as well. Endless Space is probably the more straightforward of the two games and is a true 4X TBS game whereas Sins is more of an RTS.
Both are great games so you can't really make a wrong choice here...
Sins has some great mods (Star Trek is probably the best I've played) but it can be punishing for a novice if you take your eye off the ball - games can also be VERY long. Endless Space gives you a little more thinking time but eventually you may find it's mechanics a little simplistic - (admittedly simplistic may not be the right word as I've put in a ton of hours and although I feel like I've got a good handle on the game and have a solid strategy I've yet to beat it - an attritional stalemate is the best I've managed.)

Picked this game up along with The Stanley Parable and some others as part of the current Humble Bundle. Fallen Enchantress is also in there if you want a fantasy Civ-like game from Paradox.
