Updated by the selfish mod: 01/02/2009 - I need to edit this post properly so that everyone who has posted since the dark ages when I last mass-edited this post, has their opinions reflected on the top. My apologies it hasn't been done yet, but I didn't know how I would do it. Now I have some good ideas.

BlackDove recommends:

That was a pain to underline properly.

Anyway post away, and if you post a suggestion and I don't get to it, other mods can edit my post and add or remove stuff.

Yarr.

I'm going to be re-watching Neon Genesis for the first time in... four years. I had most of it figured out then when I was an immature little snot, but I'm assuming it'll be a better experience this time around, especially since I never saw the movies, and essentialy the end.

I'll post when I do.

Just saw Evangelion for the first time last week (attempted it three times throughout the past 4 years, but never got past eps 2) and marathoned the whole thing in 3 days. The last three eps definitely were... Different. So the viewing order should've been eps 1-23, End of Evangelion, eps 24-26.

Air

First the 12 episode series, then the movie.

The movie encompasses the main arc, and does a better job at going through it, however to get the full picture it's better to see the series first, and then see the movie.

Very... very good.
* Based on a game by Key

"Once upon a time, there was a princess with wings. She lived alone, and had no friends."

In a small town, surrounded by sea and sky, there is a story handed down from a long past. It was a sad love story of a princess with wings and a young man who guarded her.

The princess was confined in a house because of her figure, and she hadn't even seen the outside world. She heard that she had a mother far away, but she could hardly go there. One day, a man appeared. He talked about the world outside and amused her. Without notice, they fell in love. However, she was cursed so as not to love a man.

Kamio Misuzu identifies herself with the princess. Because she often becomes sick, she doesn't go to school and she is always alone. She hasn't even been out of the town. However, she thinks she might have an encounter like the princess in the future. Someday, a young man came to her. His name is Kunisaki Yukito. He is traveling around showing puppet play. He has a promise with his dead mother. It is to save a girl in the air.

A cursed princess and her guard. A girl who identifies herself with the princess and a young man who travels to save a girl in the air. Two stories of the past and the present intersects each other, and their thoughts go beyond the time.
More or less, though the way it was done is where this truly shines.

Appleseed was... pretty good I guess. I've never seen that kind of animation, it was really... different. But in a good way.

Story was kind of flimsy though, and very predictable, but still they didn't try to choke me to death with it, which I appreciated, and they kept to the action.

All in all, rather good. I'd assume it's a must see for the animation's sake, because that's really a path I didn't expect it to take. Story although flimsy, does hold the whole thing together rather well, and I can't say it wasn't fun to watch.

I suppose it's probably pointless to metion this, but please note (in case some random person strolls by) that we're referring to the Appleseed 2004 movie. Not the early (original) one back in 1988.

After all, Blackdove's comment about "I've never seen that kind of animation" would definitely throw people off if they googled it and saw animation that looked something like this:

Check out them robo ears!

I forgot to mention I've seen Evangelion again remastered fully, finished a few weeks ago really.

After I was done with it, it kept me heavily depressed for about 3 days.

Still the best damn Anime I've seen. Especially since the remastered version kicks so much ass.

Simply Awesome.

It's really depressing.

I'll probably watch it again in a year or two after it discipates from my mind. Currently it's all still fresh episode by episode.

2 easy steps to double the depression felt by watching Evangelion.

1. Watch it all marathon style

2. Watch it in Japanese with English subtitles.

If the storyline doesn't depress you, Shinji's voice will, or perhaps it will drive you insane... :weird:

Check out the Manga for Akira too, it goes into a lot more depth and the timeline is slightly different from the movies.

REAL, a manga about wheelchair basketball, would certainly go on my must read list.
bah my forums is dead, so it is removed from my sig...

Btw, I'm making a game, it will be awesome, you will look forward to it.[/hype]

my recommendations are on my site [Sorry but after checking some of the contents on your site, it's even worse than linking to a torrenting community, so I can't have it here :p - BD], check out the weblinks and then the anime section, if i didn't like one, It should say so :)

I know I need to update more... bite me

You guys saw Neon Genesis Evangelion? Damn thats one great serie. I've seen every episode+directors cuts and I have the movie aswell, Watching the movie with directors commentary is really hillarious :P. Evangelion really is one of the weirdest and deepest anime's I''e ever seen, and yes, Shinji will either make you depressed or drive you insane.
