It starts airing in 3 days.
I'll be watching this expecting Gundam SEED like things. You might want to do the same as well.
L'Arc en Ciel's Opening theme "Daybreak's Bell" is pretty good too.
They're putting money into this, which is a good sign. The director worked on Shin Seiki Evangelion and directed the Full Metal Alchemist epsiodes/movie.
Promising.

Hrm... I kinda hoped they'd do a bit more old school with this one. The first two trailers I saw showed some character design that were more similar to 90's Gundam (X, Wing) than SEED.
All I care about is how good the plot is, and I don't want to see overpowered aimbots!

I am (apparently ) going to be watching this as an intro into Anime. I will probably drop my thoughts off when I have seen a few episodes and BD has sufficiently beaten me in this direction.
Not many expectations, as I only have a few episodes of Kenshin under my anime belt to go by, but hopefully I'll be impressed. We shall see.

I find myself somewhat surprised that BD's attempt to introduce you to Anime didn't start off with some Hentai.
Haven't seen any of it yet, of course, so can't say how it might fare as a starter. I have others I might recommend instead - depending on your taste in fiction - but I imagine Dovey might've already checked out that end.
Ah well, enjoy, and if you don't like it, we'll just blame BD as usual (and then expose you to some Hentai anyway)

Also this is the first one that'll be airing in HD, which is one of the things I'm excited about.
I've seen a few of the promo's (in HD) and the thing looks REALLY GOOD. You will need a good processor to handle the top quality subs though. If you want the full OP PM me or Anubis on IRC.

So, what'd you guys think?
It's a nice way to use (plot wise) those overpowered Gundams. Similar to what Lacus Clyne's forces did at the end of SEED, except we kick off the series with it.

It finally looks like they're not going to do the "One Gundam > All" like what they've been doing with STRIKE FREEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOM!!111111111111oneoenoeneone
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!1111111111111111one
Although, that's no guarantee it won't change, because Bandai makes a killing in selling figurines, and these anime are usually just made as reasons to buy said figurines.
At any rate, I hope it doesn't turn into masturbation, and the start really looks solid. You have a melee, a sniper, a fast scout and a big bertha defender/bazooka suit. And they work like a team.
Story side of things, I reckon it'll be interesting, since they covered the basis in the first one. There's 51 episodes to flesh out the basic premise (a lot of ways it could go), and I doubt we'll be dissapointed.
Also, you need to watch this in 1080i to fully appreciate it.

Wow, just saw the 1080 version. I'm hoping a sub group will choose the HQ version as their RAW choice.

Ok, I watched it yesterday and today up to the current episode of 14.
I think they should of called it Wing SEED. ;p
I only say that due to the fact that it's very much got that Gundam Wing and SEED vibe. Especially Wing. CB is very much trying to accomplish what LAcus was in SEED, however it's in a much easier to understand format. It certainly makes sense in the long run of things. Become an unstoppable force to get the warring nations to band together to stop you. Pretty cut and dry.
My only real issues is that most of the characters are very wooden and uninteresting. I am hoping that changes with the series. And for pete's sake, why is it that every anime I have watched lately has a character in it with multiple personality disorder?!
The series certainly has potential and I will be watching it closely for the time being.

Well, that wraps up the first season. Six months till the second one.
It is one of the best, if not the best Gundam show to date as far as I'm concerned.

Not seen the last episode yet, but I've really enjoyed the show so far. It surprised me, since anime was essentially 'God NO!' territory before I started watching, but this has shown me there are indeed some good ones out there that avoid the stupidity that usually turns me off.
High point so far for me has to be 23 and 24, just because they hit the nail so hard in regards to emotional scenes. But the show has really just got better and better as its gone on. I approve.

I have to agree. I was amazed at some of the big reveals at the end of the episode. Everything about the series was top notch. Character development, story, music, designs, everything. I certainly will be looking for this on DVD when it arrives.BlackDove wrote:Well, that wraps up the first season. Six months till the second one.

I can't wait for October when they continue it really.
But I'll have Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch to tide me over. At least they're not breaking for nothing.

The film has followed on from the seasons perfectly, I can't fault it. It was the pefect balance between story/battle sequences.

I watched this last night, after completing my rewatch of 00 as a whole on Thursday. The film was very good and fit the series perfectly - a fine epilogue to the story the show told. I did feel that the ending (prior to the credits and the two scenes that followed) was quite abrupt though, and that disappointed me.

They stuck to their guns. The entire impetus for the series from the get-go were the "dialogs to come". When you think about it, the entire "realistic" aspect was always geared towards something bigger. And it's the way it should be, because otherwise, the entire reasoning for why Celestial Being was created is pointless, and crashes the entire backbone of the series, and the reasoning for the whole of the events taking place.

I agree 100% BD. This movie wrapped everything up all nice and neat with a little bow on top.
