I've been playing around with scanning probes in my Anathema just to get a feel for the system...and tonight I managed to scan down 3 wormholes. Two lead to wormhole space (entering one dropped my shields about 33%, did not enter the other because it had been disrupted by the mass of ships passing through it, and was on the verge of collapse...I'd rather not be stranded :P). The third led to 0.6 space (from 0.9 space). As another player who used the same wormhole commented "highsec to highsec, kinda pointless" (it did toss me between 15 and 17 jumps, as my autopilot destination changed from 1 jump left to 16, and had me in Amarr space).
Funny things, these wormholes
For those curious, my scan skills are as follows:
Astrometrics: 4
Astrometric Rangefinding: 2 (who came up with that name?)
Covert Ops: 3
My Sisters Core Probes show a sensor strength of 68 (44 before skills).
Wormholes, wormholes everywhere!

Wormholes require special scanning equipment to find (they're found with the scanner interface, but ships with only an onboard scanner can only find cosmic anomalies through that interface). But if you want to just see one...
