It has begun. Good thing we had that vote on server location when we did :)

Over to you MS!

Didn't think they'd be starting phase 3 until the beginning of next month so my first thought was exactly the same, good job we had that poll when we did and didn't leave it until later hehe.

Saw this on the official forums just now which someone spotted on this pre-order page.
Customers who pre-order Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ will be able to play the game before the official launch. “Early Game Access” is the period of time before the official game launch when pre-order customers may access the game. Early Game Access may be up to 5 days. The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code at the Code Redemption Center. See Pre-Order FAQ for more details.
It was always my assumption that it'd be days to a week max so seems about right. That'd put us at Dec 15th, the day SWG closes.

Update for you guys :)

Pre-launch guilds are now locked and deployment has begun!
Over the next several days we can expect to receive an email with further details covering this stuff, like which server our guild has been assigned to so we know which to select when creating our main characters and how to join the guild once we're ingame. - I did read a while ago that we were supposed to get an automatic invite when we create our first character but whether it will still work like this I don't know. Guess we'll find out in a few days! :D

Early Access Emails will be sent out from Dec 13th onwards stating your early access start time.
From this I am therefore assuming we will have details about Guild Deployment prior to the 13th.

ADDITIONAL

just seen this on Darth Hater

http://www.darthhater.com/articles/swto ... ecember-13

also see the preorder FAQ

http://www.swtor.com/preorder/faq#q209656

There appears to be no grace period between early access and full game code redemption.
This may cause issues for those of us who have to relay on a hard copy getting to us through Christmas Mail.

*crosses fingers* come on Amazon don't let me down.

I'm expecting us to hear what servers we've been deployed on before the end of this week, perhaps as tomorrows update. Though that may be wishful thinking on my part :D. Either way it's gotta be before tuesday otherwise those who get access on the 13th won't know what server to pick.

No grace period is a shame what with the time of year the game is releasing, last posting dates, weather conditions etc. Tbh though before they said there would be one I didn't expect there to be one anyway heh. It's all up to our retailers now so as long as they don't let us down there should be no issue having to add our retail game code at the end of early access to continue playing. That being said Bioware are apparently in contact with all retailers to try and make sure everyone gets their copy on time. Important note too and is to be expected but we'll also need to add a valid payment method at the same time as registering our retail code but we won't be charged anything until our included free 30 days are up. :)

Luckily I must have been thinking ahead as I had already arranged for expedited delivery from Amazon

When the guild was being set up, was there an option to choose which sort of server you wanted to be on? Are we guaranteed to get a PvP server or might we find ourselves on a PvE server?

Yes to your first question. It allowed you to pick server type, location, language and faction allegiance. These were the deciding factors on which servers they put people on so other than the allies/enemies which was optional and they said they'd do their best to fullfull, and the playstyles of requiring members to play so many hrs or whatever which was just for their search function, the server type, location and all of that should be guaranteed I think Mech. All of that info could be changed once I'd set it up too so that's why we had the server poll and Anny recently started the server type thread incase people wanted to switch to PvE instead before it was too late to change in the admin panel :)

So with that we'll be;

Shattered Star eXiles
Server Name: n/a
The Sith Empire
PvP / Europe (English)

Will be adding this info to our group site and roster thread as soon as they tell us the server name!

For those who ordered through amazon a tweet from Stephen Reid

Rockjaw Stephen Reid
@ @Beartech28 Amazon will have their product in advance of launch, and are, in theory, shipping product to arrive for launch day.

Oh and info from some tweets last night, and the updated FAQ.

Digital orders form Origin should be having game codes emailed starting on the 16th.

Retail outlets in the UK should have copies available for pick up from the 15th

Retail outlets in the US and Canada will have copies available on the 20th

Won't find out our server name until Monday as some of you will already know but we'll also see a flag on the ingame server browser next to the server our guild has been deployed on. Should make things a lot easier! :)

[Edit - Both mine and Ava's copies have been dispatched from GAME today (11th). Should be here well in advance :D]

Early Access entry is supposedly based on when you redeemed the preorder code.

Yeah, the earlier you redeemed the earlier you'll get access. However they aren't giving us advance warning on what day that'll be so they can remain flexible, instead we'll get an e-mail on the actual day that we're allowed in. So as soon as we receive that we can play. They're also doing waves throughout each day I believe so not just 1 batch of invites but on and off throughout each day.
I wouldn't worry too much. Even those who pre-ordered late on should still get at least a day as it was part of the promotion :thumb:

hmm you may want to see if you can contact them about that asap. Even if you redeemed a code within the next few days I would think you'd still get a day or so early access, and you'll still get the colour stone that way too.
Will look forward to seeing you ingame anyway, doubt any of us will be rushing ahead ;)

it's funny - i have the game and have registered it...but haven't had my pre-order. play dont seem to man the info@play.com mailbox for customer queries. suppose it goes to show; the first time i have ever needed to question something and its like talking to myself...
under 5 days to proper launch....
